My name is Kassie and I run Surrey Dog Behaviour, a behavioural service, in person in Surrey and across the UK online. I cover everything from puppy training and gundog training to basic skills such as lead walking and recall as well as more challenging issues such as anxiety and aggression.
I am lucky enough to be owned by my Honeyfitz boy, Sunny (Honeyfitz Seneca). Sunny is from Rosie by Ettinsmoor Mr Ed. He is nearly 2 and has been SO much fun so far!
Sunny’s first trip was to Scotland when he was only 9-weeks-old to help me at Dogfest where I run displays with my dogs! Although Sunny was way too little to walk around, he definitely became a quick hit with all the stall holders and even Michaela Stracken!
Sunny had to learn fast what the world of shows was all about, and took to the ‘stage’ when he was 14 weeks, demonstrating how to start teaching retrieve and heelwork! He was definitely the cutest demo dog that year!
Over the next few months Sunny worked hard to learn some gundog skills, including sitting still while other dogs work (stay with distractions), heelwork on and off lead, recall to his name, stop to a whistle and of course a variety of retrieves! He absolutely LOVES learning, so took to this like a pro!
When Sunny was 9-months he started being a part of the main displays at big shows such as All About Dogs and Dogfest! He also had his very own demo at Dogfest on how to help dogs through the teenage era! He took part in a grand total of 12 shows last year, including being part of the Kennel Club Good Citizens Scheme demo team at Crufts at only 10 months old!
Sunny also started his other sports ventures around this time, such as Heelwork to Music (doggy dancing!) and agility! Sunny LOVES to run, so these were a big hit!
Sunny had to take some time out when he was 13-months as he pulled a muscle in is leg, but this didn’t stop him! Once he was up and running again, he jumped straight back into his gundog and tricks training like no time had passed!
Currently Sunny and I are working on his debut Heelwork to Music routine, where he will be strutting his stuff in the ring at A Dogs Day Out in May, as well as competing in the summer! I’m definitely very excited for his future, although he just thinks we have great fun!
Sunny has also achieved his grades 1 and 2 with the Gundog Club, and is working towards the tricky grade 3 this summer!
This year Sunny will be taking centre stage at 12 shows, showing off his tricks, gundog skills as well as helping me teach hundreds of people how to create the best companions possible!
Sunny is just such a love! He is so friendly with everyone he meets, and enjoys the company of dogs, whether that’s his plethora of friends or having a quick hi on his many adventures!
If already have or if you are thinking about getting a Honeyfitz Lab, all I can say is they are absolute sweethearts! Sunny still needs lots of brain work and exercise but if you love to walk, these dogs are for you!!
